Keller Hardware Background
During the 1930's, an innovative outboard boat racer named Leonard
Keller from the Seattle area saw a need and began developing a product line
of outboard racing hardware and outboard racing speedometers. The product
line eventually included everything you would need to rig a kneel-down or
lay-down outboard racing hull.
Over the years, the products of Keller Manufacturing Company became
known around the country as a standard for outboard racing hardware. When
Leonard retired, the business passed to Dave and Tom Williams of Williams Manufacturing
Company, and later, in 1991, the business passed to Allen Thorsen of Computerized Marine Products
(CMP).
Under the leadership of Allen Thorsen, the CMP / Keller product line has been
steadily refined and improved. Allen Thorsen introduced CNC machining, improved materials,
and improved coatings to the manufacturing process.
Today, Allen Thorsen of CMP performs the design, engineering, and
manufacturing and Steve Greaves of Portage Bay
Systems, Inc. performs manufacturing, marketing, distribution, and sales for the CMP / Keller
product line.
In addition to the CMP / Keller hardware and speedometer product line,
Portage Bay Systems, Inc. represents Racing Outboards, LLC, American Hot Rod
Engines, Arens German PRO racing motors, Lifeline safety equipment, and Bell helmets.
