Racing Outboards, Sidewinder, Press Release, October 23, 2009

Racing Outboards LLC is committed to supplying competitive boat racing equipment to current and

new racers in the stock and mod categories. Our goal is to attract and help new racers to participate

with competitive as-purchased racing equipment, so that they may concentrate on developing their

driving skills.

Racing Outboards LLC Sidewinder "A"

The Sidewinder "A" has been raced competitively in 9 regions this past season.  Five engines

competed with ten different drivers.  The engine design was finalized in February 2009 and first raced

at the winter nationals where it finished third on the race course.  The performance of the engine has

allowed it to merge with the OMC "A" engines, typically in the front half of the field but (true to its

intention) not dominating the class.  Racing Outboards LLC has the engine in stock and is looking for

APBA approval of the engine to encourage additional sales and promote new growth in the class.

There is a lot of interest in the engine, but racers are hesitant to purchase it until it is approved for

points.  The engine is in stock and ready for purchase.

Racing Outboard LLC Sidewinder 15SS

The Sidewinder 15SS ("B")engine has competed in the "B" class for its second season.  Performance

has improved throughout the season as fine tuning of the carburetor, timing, and propping have

proceeded.  The engine is in stock and ready for purchase.

Racing Outboard LLC Sidewinder 20

After concentrating our efforts on the "A" and 15SS engines over the past season, the production

Sidewinder 20 cu in engine was introduced at the Lock Haven, PA Labor Day regatta.  Testing was

performed on a hydro on Friday by Tim Sidor and on a runabout on Saturday by Rich Runne.  The

engine performed well on its first outing racing competitively in the 25 runabout class.  After a minor

adjustment to the piston deflector diameter (which caused a stuck piston at Lock Haven, a

manufacturing flaw which is now corrected) the engine competed successfully at races in Kingston,

NH and Millville, NJ.  The Sidewinder 20 has been raced in the 25 runabout class competing with the

20 cu in Hot Rod, the restricted Yamatos, and the Merc 25xs.  The design is "locked down," but final

carburetor tuning and testing is being done at this time to assure top out-of-the-box performance.  All

parts for the 20 cu in Sidewinder are in production. There are currently 6 Sidewinder 20's on order

with delivery expected within the next 8 to 10 weeks.

The majority of parts used in the production of the Sidewinder are shared by all of the Sidewinder

models. The components that are different between models are the cylinder sleeves, pistons, wrist

pins, cylinder head, and carburetor.  All other parts and assemblies from the skeg to the flywheel are

the same.

Racing Outboards is looking forward to supporting the Sidewinder owners as they race into the future!

We currently have customers waiting for APBA approval of the engines prior to placing their orders.
